Scoliosis

I have SCOLIOSIS . Let me deliberate more yeah?

Scoliosis is a medical condition in which a person's spine is curved from side to side, and may also be rotated. To adults it can be very painful. It is an abnormal lateral curvature of the spine. On an x-ray, the spine of an individual with a typical scoliosis may look more like an "S" or a "C" than a straight line. It is typically classified as congenital (caused by vertebral anomalies present at birth), idiopathic (sub-classified as infantile, juvenile, adolescent, or adult according to when onset occurred) or as having developed as a secondary symptom of another condition, such as cerebral palsy, spinal muscular atrophy or due to physical trauma.

The symptoms of scoliosis can include:
  • Uneven musculature on one side of the spine
  • A rib "hump" and/or a prominent shoulder blade, caused by rotation of the ribcage in thoracic scoliosis
  • Uneven hip, rib cage, and shoulder levels
  • Asymmetric size or location of breast in females
  • Unequal distance between arms and body
  • Slow nerve action (in some cases)
  • Different heights of the shoulders

Surgery is usually indicated for curves that have a high likelihood of progression, curves that cause a significant amount of pain with some regularity, curves that would be cosmetically unacceptable as an adult, curves in patients with spina bifida and cerebral palsy that interfere with sitting and care, and curves that affect physiological functions such as breathing.

Surgery for scoliosis is usually done by a surgeon who specializes in spine surgery. For various reasons it is usually impossible to completely straighten a scoliotic spine, but in most cases very good corrections are achieved.

Spinal fusion is the most widely performed surgery for scoliosis. In this procedure, bone (either harvested from elsewhere in the body [autograft], or donor bone [allograft]) is grafted to the vertebrae so that when it heals, they will form one solid bone mass and the vertebral column becomes rigid. This prevents worsening of the curve at the expense of spinal movement. This can be performed from the anterior (front) aspect of the spine by entering the thoracic or abdominal cavity, or performed from the back (posterior). A combination of both is used in more severe cases.

The pictures are example of how is like for me if I can scan mine, I would. :)

As for my case, I have scoliosis due to Genetic Genes. Meaning my family history, it was brought down to me. Really unlucky huh? I get to know when I was in primary 6, primary schools usually have the nurses came down to our school and had our check up done. From there, I was sent to Outram where we have to go through further up check up. I had to wore a body cast for almost a year that is when I was in Secondary 1. I was never happy with it and was scared for being teased but luckily only my sooo called close friend knew about it. Family thought it was going to be better but NO! It did not became worst or anything just not any better. I was sent to NUH from now on. The Outram clinic i think its under MOE can't do nothing much for me. I broke down to tears when the doc told me I had to go for a surgery. I was soooo sad and scared and scared. To make it even worst the surgery was on my birthday. I cried almost every single night. My mind was not right I thought I was going to die like seriously. I never told my mum about it. They just said its better to do the surgery now or when I'm in my adulthood its going to be much worst.

(181204) Kissed everyone in the operation theathre. Injections here and there, and I purposely when to sleep or izit the injections. I'm not sure. I know I was knock up. I don't know how long was the surgery. When it is finally over, It was soooo painful. I cannot moved by myself. I had the nurse to move my body. Dammmn, was it painful ! I remembered Kakak titik (cousin) told me that I scolded her when she visited me in ICU room. I was angry behind that deep sleep. hehehe... I'm sooo sorry ! I have a bad temper.

I would like to thank everyone who visited me and helped me through out my days there. Expecially my mum and dad. Nina mintak maaf kalau menyusahkan and the payment was the hardest part. :(''' I didn't say this that time. You know I love you people. :)

Now, I have to this one long stitches on my back. I used to hate it. I think that I was weird and not normal. Shits happened. I was on my down world that secondary school days. Now, I realised everything happened for reasons. I have scoliosis, I'm different but soooo what? People teased me. Some jokes aren't that funny. but sooo what? I'm happy to be me. I have stitches i rather flaunt it.

I'm not alone.

Celebrities with Scoliosis

Rebecca Romijn announces her Scoliosis experience with Ellen Degeneres. She shares the back pain she had while growing up. Rebecca endorces Pilates as a great way to help alleviate pain caused from Scoliosis. I will provide a link to the Ellen Show as soon as the video is posted online.

Sarah has scoliosis, which is a curvature of the spine.

Sarah Michelle Gellar made her first ever appearance in Maxim magazine in the December 2007 issue, where she was voted Woman of the Year by Maxim.

Renee Russo

Diagnosed with scoliosis at age 10, she wore a body cast 48 weeks a year until she was 14. "Every six months, I got a two-week break." Feeling alone and alienated, Russo dropped out of high school and floundered through her teen years.

Chloe Sevigny set the record straight regarding a purportedly evil jibe by the Post that the young star could not have children because of a youthful bout of scoliosis. Apparently, tired columnist Liz Smith decided to retrieve her info from an ancient interview with Sevigny instead of finding anything current about the star. Chloe was so distraught by Smith's supposed revelation that she burst into tears. Luckily, the story is not true and, bless Jesus, she'll have as many children as she wants.

Katrina Darrell

She stuck around long enough to sabotage her group by going to sleep instead of rehearsing, blaming high heels and scoliosis rather than her inability to sing more than a few palatable notes.

She is not a celeb yet. Her luck is changing.

LOS ANGELES, Calif.

Katrina Darell didn’t make a lot of friends when she auditioned for “American Idol” in a bikini, but Playboy sure took notice.

According to the recently ousted chanteuse, known on the show as Bikini Girl, the men’s magazine is one of the many places that has expressed an interest in the booted reality hopeful, following her “Idol” departure on Wednesday’s episode.

Its exactly 4 years 1 month and 19 days now.

That metal thing is going to be with me till my death.
